Aakash Chopra lauds Mitchell Marsh’s IPL 2025 performances, rates him as tournament’s best value buy

Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra showered praise on Mitchell Marsh’s consistent performances in IPL 2025 for Lucknow Super Giants. Marsh scored an impressive knock of 67 runs off 37 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Lucknow in the last league stage match in IPL 2025 on Tuesday.

In the previous match against Gujarat Titans, the Australian had also scored his maiden IPL hundred. Marsh scored 627 runs in 13 matches of the season at an average of 48.23 and a strike rate of 163.71 and ended as LSG’s highest run-getter in the season.

Marsh was bought by LSG for INR 3.40 crore by LSG in IPL 2025 mega auction.

“When they were invited to bat first, a new guy, Matthew Breetzke, had come. He is a South African and plays for the Durban Super Giants. He played a few good shots, but then he got out to a Nuwan Thushara full toss. Mitchell Marsh, you have to agree that he was a value buy,” Chopra said on his YouTube Channel.

“He is probably this tournament’s best value buy, when a guy you bought for less than ₹3.50 crore scores more than 600 runs. He was not bowling now. He will bowl next year and remain with you for the same money. I would say he was an outstanding acquisition,” he added.

On the other hand, the renowned commentator hailed LSG captain Rishabh Pant, who got back amongst the runs against RCB. Pant smashed a blistering knock of 118 runs off just 61 balls as he was seen at his previous best.

“Rishabh Pant came to bat up the order in this match. He came at No. 3. Pooran used to come to bat at No. 3 earlier, but he said he would come now as the tournament is over. The way he started playing from the first ball, he showed why this guy is special. It was his second IPL century,” he said.

The former Delhi player showered praise on Pant for his impressive off-side play against the Bengaluru franchise.

“When you play with power, you hit very good shots on the on side. So people bowl wide to you. He was hitting over cover on one leg while falling. The shots he hit over the off side, you cannot use the bottom hand to hit there because if you do that, you will drag it towards the on side,” Chopra observed.
